‘Comparative genomics: structure and evolution of HOX clusters’
Abstract: The Hox gene clusters underly phenomena of maintenance and rearrangement of their genomic structure suggesting yet unexplored selective constraints and changes thereof during the course of evolution. Non-coding sequence evolution within Hox clusters shapes gene expression patterns of Hox genes and their developmental role. The elements driving regulation of gene expression lie dispersed within the intergenic regions and act on different levels of gene regulation. Comparative genomics can shed light on the evolutionary mechanisms and the genomic structures under constraint.
