This year, LERN will be taking all interested members on a picnic in Regent’s park followed by a trip to the London Zoo!
Interested members will have to pay for their own ticket, but a student discount is available. LERN will provide food and beverages for the picnic. This will take place July 30th and we will be meeting at 12.30 in front of the Zoo.
If you are interested in joining us, email us your name and phone number at firstname.lastname@example.org with subject header “Zoo”.
This is a great opportunity to meet other fellow postgrads in a non-academic environment, so we hope to see many of you there!
The 2009 LERN field trip will provide interested members with the opportunity to visit part of the mammalian collection held in the Natural History Museum’s basement. Philippa Brewer, curator of the Mesozoic and Tertiary Mammals at the NHM has kindly agreed to give members a tour of the collection with special emphasis on the evolution of sea mammals.
The visits will be split into three dates (June 4th, June 5th and June 11th), with a possible June 12th date. The tour will start at 5:30 and last approximately one hour. Six places are available for each date, and those interested should email LERN with their name and contact information.
But hurry, there are only a few spots available!
Some snaps from the LERN jaunt to Kew are available here at our 2008 photo page. We had a sunny Saturday exploring the Gardens and enjoyed a leisurely cruise back on the riverboat. More photos to be added!
